Our Companion Beach Towels

We live in the southwest of England, near the sea. Since our Whippet was four months old, we’ve been bringing her to the beach almost every week. It was there, standing on the sand, that we heard the same thing from most Whippet owner we met: 'They don’t like the water. They’re afraid to swim.' But our girl was different. Brave in ways we didn’t expect, she took to the waves on her own - swimming at just four months old. Her strokes were slow and calm and she made no splash at all.
But after every swim, there was always the shivering. Whippets, with their fine short coats, are known for feeling the cold. And standing on damp sand with the wind coming in from the sea made it harder for her to get warm again. We would wrap her in our jackets, or on days when we remembered, we would bring a towel. But nothing ever seemed right. The bathrobes we tried, were made for drying off at home - not for keeping the sand away on the beach. And the human beach towels were far too big, heavy to pack.
It made us wonder: Do they really dislike swimming? Or is it just the cold and the damp afterwards that they don’t like? Over time, on walks by the rivers, lakes, and the sea, we began to notice something. No matter the season, there were always dogs leaping into the water - chasing balls, splashing about, swimming for the sheer joy of it. Our little Westie was no different, always eager to dive in after a stick or a toy.
And we found ourselves thinking: Would they be even happier if, after all that swimming, there was a towel waiting for them?
So we decided to make something ourselves - something simple, but thoughtful. That’s how the Companion Beach Towel was born. It’s a small, lightweight beach towel designed for dogs, made for the moments after a swim, or a run along the shore. It dries them off, but it’s also something soft and clean they can lie on while the sun warms them up.
And because life with dogs is often about movement, we designed the towel to roll up small. It comes with an elastic loop, so you can pack it into a pocket, clip it onto a bag, or hang it somewhere to dry. Whether we’re going to the coast or heading out for a picnic in the park, we bring ours along. And our dogs always have a place that’s theirs to rest on.
